Hail is hitting the window now. It looks like morning. Now usually my first thought of the day is always my friend Mr. Coffee and the piping hot gift he brings, but today I woke up thinking about the tin. I sit up and try to bring the blood into my feet by pounding them with a little contraption called The Bonger. By the way, The Bonger is a modern invention I can really get behind. Whoever thought of this, a rubber ball on the end of a flexible piece of metal you kind of slap yourself around with to increase circulation, that's the brand of genius I like. I bong away on my calves for awhile and start thinking how you couldn't hit the tin with The Bonger. It would dent for sure. Jesus. It all keeps coming back to the tin. I might just have to pay it a visit today.

I flip on the t.v. and see it's only 5:45 a.m. She doesn't leave for work until around 8:30, so if I'm going to do it, I've got a lot of time to kill. Bay Expressions isn't even on yet, so I watch an exercise show for awhile. Go for the burn. Work it out. Remember to breathe.

All those thighs moving around, the arms and legs flying, sort of lull me into a daydream. I think about how maybe I should just wait it out, be patient. This could turn out to be a real downward spiral if I don't watch it. Maybe one morning I'll wake up and all her old junk will be out in boxes on the curb. She'll move out like they all do. Even after the homeless people have picked through the soiled bedsheets and warped cassette tapes, the tin will still be there for me. My body will be all healed by then and I'll tap dance up like Shirley Temple to pluck out my grand prize.
